If you could take a class right now and learn anything in the world, what class would you take?
Hmph, I'm trying desperately to get into a class I need to graduate but the professor will neither email me nor call me back. I'm going to deal with this calamity before I deal with hypotheticals.
How do you choose your Vox neighbors and friends?
Submitted by gcgal.
First of all, a shout out to my girl gcgal for getting the QotD. :o)
I add people to my neighborhood when I find them interesting or enjoying keeping up with their blog (and a lot of times, thereby, their life). I make people friends if I feel like sharing with them the posts that I reserve for people who I know love me and know me well because I tend to use that level of security for ranting about life and love in ways that I don't feel comfortable leaving open to the public.
What is your legacy?
Submitted by Beautifully Broken.
I don't have one yet. I think I'm too young for that.
What question do you hate being asked?
Currently, "What happened to __________?" Blank being one of a couple of people. And also ,"Do you think there's any chance it'll go back to normal?"
- I'm not people's keeper. Sometimes people get a wild hair and disappear. I do not have the answers.
- Sometimes, and I know you'll find this a shocker, people choose not to be a part of my life anymore. Deal with it. I have to.
- What's normal?
- People come in and out of our lives - often their capacity changes. That's okay. It's dealing with that that is sometimes not so easy. But we can either watch people go away or we can adapt. Which sounds like the better way to keep good people around you?
What's your favorite song with "America" or "USA" in the title? Bonus points if you share it with us.
"Let us be lovers we'll marry our fortunes together"
"I've got some real estate here in my bag"
So we bought a pack of cigarettes and Mrs. Wagner pies
And we walked off to look for America
"Kathy," I said as we boarded a Greyhound in Pittsburgh
"Michigan seems like a dream to me now"
It took me four days to hitchhike from Saginaw
I've gone to look for America
Laughing on the bus
Playing games with the faces
She said the man in the gabardine suit was a spy
I said "Be careful his bowtie is really a camera"
"Toss me a cigarette, I think there's one in my raincoat"
"We smoked the last one an hour ago"
So I looked at the scenery, she read her magazine
And the moon rose over an open field
"Kathy, I'm lost," I said, though I knew she was sleeping
I'm empty and aching and I don't know why
Counting the cars on the New Jersey Turnpike
They've all gone to look for America
All gone to look for America
All gone to look for America
How much does a ticket cost at your usual movie theater? Does the price affect the number of movies you see at the theater?
Submitted by Kristie.
$9 for a regular ticket and $7.50 for a matinee. If I remember to tell them I'm a student it's $1.50 off either ticket.
Geesh - when did it get so expensive to go to the movies. Seems like just yesterday it was around $6.25. Not to mention what you spend on concessions. I'm just thankful I carry a purse large enough to sneak my own snacks in.
What does blogging do for you?
Submitted by Madeleine Rose.
- I find it cathartic - sometimes when I'm feeling something it's easier to get it out in writing than it is to try to deal with it internally.
- I love to meet people from all over the world. Blogging makes that possible, easy and accessible.
- It brightens my day to see what makes other people laugh and smile.
- I make friends with people in blogland that I probably wouldn't in my day to day life. Experiencing things through their eyes makes me a more well rounded person.
What's your favorite time of day and why?
I like it when it's 6:00 and dark outside. So I like evenings in the winter, I suppose. Just something about it feels good to me.
How have you changed in the past year?
Submitted by littleduckling.
- I've become much more self-aware and self-reliant than I ever was before and more than I dreamed was possible.
- I've given up on some old, childish ideals. Sometimes I miss the comfort they brought, usually I'm proud of embracing adult realities.
- I've spent the majority of the last year not in love with the guy that tried to suck the life out of me. Not because he was a bad guy but because he was selfish.
- I've dated more in the last year than I ever had before. Most of those guys were duds. Some weren't.
- I rediscovered the focus I lost in the early part of my twenties.
What's your best quality?
I totally stole the idea of the way to answer this from Connie. What is it they say? That imitation is the sincerest form of flattery? Let's hope she thinks so. :) Besides, she always finds the best stuff online. Here we go!
The fact that you're an independent person who is usually able to handle things in a self-sufficient manner really draws people to you! But that's not the only thing. Your answers on the test indicate you're a smart person who is more able to understand complex concepts than many other people are. You are an honest person who values the truth and is sometimes willing to make sacrifices in order to uphold it, too.
In all, there are 15 qualities that help define you when you're at your best. Those are the traits potential employers, friends, and partners look for in you. What makes you unique is your particular distribution of those 15 qualities.
We've found that your particular combination of qualities is rare — only 1 in 10,000 people share the same general mix of traits. Those are great odds if you're trying to show a potential employer, colleague, friend, or date why you're exactly the right person for them.
